About Us
The paper fish project was done over a period of a month during Sunday worship and at our monthly potluck with guests from our partner church New Mission Temple on Chicago’s westside.
“All the unique pieces have value alone. But assembled, they create a new whole. Rich used the word ‘mosaic’ and I like that better than collage. To me the fish represents this diverse GCC community of Jesus people who move through life loving, learning, serving, worshipping…together.” – Melanie Fiacchino
“…from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.” Ephesians 4:16
Who we are
At Greater Chicago Church, we seek to look more like Christ in our daily lives. We believe the spiritual journey is an individual quest accomplished best in community. We are a diverse group of believers that welcome everyone regardless of race, gender, orientation
, or beliefs. Our passion is to be carriers of the presence of Christ while developing leaders and impacting the communities we each call home. GCC is filled with individuals searching for answers, looking for hope, and longing for freedom found in faith.
Where we come from
Greater Chicago Church is non-denominational and was birthed and named in 2008. Yet this community of faith was established and foundationally rooted many years before. We consider ourselves a people of legacy, building upon the generations of believers that have provided a place to worship and have helped to shape our beliefs in the goodness of God. GCC is a community that is fashioned around the presence of God. Honor and freedom in all contexts are deeply important to our core values and to how we worship. We believe that we are a people that have been crafted in the image of our God and it is our pleasure to live like Jesus.
Where we're headed
As a church community, we are committed to becoming more like Jesus. We welcome everyone who is on a similar journey and would consider it a privilege to walk out this process together. In pursuit of the presence of Holy Spirit, we believe that you will find family and encounter the loving power of God. GCC has a desire to impact our local communities as well as Chicagoland with the love of a good God and the transformative power that comes from living out a supernatural lifestyle. Our worship and our pursuit of the miraculous are the hallmarks of who we are and how we love to partner with what God is doing within community. Transformation starts within us and our heart is to steward that while being committed to providing a safe place where you will grow and develop.
What this means for you
What does this mean for you? Most importantly, you are always welcome at GCC. We're saving a seat for you. Wherever you are in your faith journey, you'll always be accepted as part of the GCC family.
