Kids & Youth

Kids Ministry at GCC

COVID kids message
We believe the same Holy Spirit living inside of the adults is alive and moving in the lives of our kids and youth. We are passionate about raising up the powerful leader in each child, to equip and resource families and to foster a safe, nurturing and connected community that is fun, exciting and draws people to the Lord.
Encounter Babies: Calling out their Godly identities through song, scripture, declarations and play at a developmentally appropriate level
Encounter Tots: Introducing and exposing the core beliefs of our house as well as social/emotional/relational development, all while having fun of course!
Encounter Kids: Providing space to building a strong foundation for life where kids are encouraged to be powerful, confident and secure in who they are
Encounter Youth: Providing a place for the teens to belong, be loved and be important

We may never understand the scope of his sacrifice or what he saw that spurred him to his final days but we pray that we would never forget and would lay hold of what he, and so many others, started and see our world become what he had envisioned. May we all be extremists for justice, love, goodness and truth.⠀

“So the question is not whether we will be extremists, but what kind of extremists we will be. Will we be extremists for hate or for love? Will we be extremists for the preservation of injustice or for the extension of justice? In that dramatic scene on Calvary's hill three men were crucified. We must never forget that all three were crucified for the same crime - the crime of extremism. Two were extremists for immorality, and thus fell below their environment. The other, Jesus Christ, was an extremist for love, truth and goodness, and thereby rose above his environment. The nation and the world are in dire need of creative extremists.”⠀

Two weeks ago, JD asked during our post-service community time, what you all wanted to hear about and talk about in 2021. We've responded with our first series of the year on Lamentations. ⠀
We invite you to read along with us so we can go places...together. ⠀
Read through Lamentations this week and prepare for next week's message, part 2.

Today saw an outpouring of love and support at L!ve Café on Oak Park Ave after a brick with a racist note attached was found by their window Wednesday. As Rev Acree said at the press conference this morning, “What the enemy meant for evil, God will turn around for good.” Amen, we add our yes. Reesheda Graham Washington, we stand with you and all those who stand for Love and Justice in Oak Park, America, and around the world today.
